(NEXSTAR) – As many spend the time between Thanksgiving and early December focusing on the approaching Christmas season, there is another major holiday upon us: Hanukkah. Referred to as “eight crazy nights” in the popular “Saturday Night Live” song by Adam Sandler, the holiday isn’t just about lighting a menorah and spinning a dreidel.
Jets coach Robert Saleh has the dilemma of fielding a busted-up Mike White (ribs), or an off-form and out-of-favor Zach Wilson, as New York looks to bounce back from last weekend's 20-12 defeat to the Bills. The Lions, meanwhile, are starting to build some momentum and have racked up five wins in their last six outings, the most recent being an impressive 34-23 victory over the Vikings last Sunday. Kickoff in New Jersey is set for 1 p.m. ET (10 a.m. PT) on CBS.
The game will be shown on TV in the Detroit and New York areas (according to 506 Sports) on live TV streaming services, but there may be cases where you're blocked because of an internet location glitch or just want an added layer of privacy for streaming. There's an option that won't require you to subscribe to something like NFL Sunday Ticket or NFL Plus, or search the internet for a sketchy website: a virtual private network, or VPN.

The Jacksonville Jaguars return home for Sunday's Week 15 NFL game at TIAA Bank Field against the Dallas Cowboys, a contest with playoff implications for both teams.
The Cowboys, at 10-3, are chasing the Philadelphia Eagles for the top spot in the NFC East and could wrap up a playoff berth this weekend. Micah Parsons and DeMarcus Lawrence are among the stars on a defense that ranks near the top the league in most categories, and Dallas enters the First Coast with a four-game winning streak.
Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence is coming off one of his best performances to date in last Sunday's victory against the Titans in Tennessee. With that game, the Jags retained slim but not unrealistic hopes of a playoff berth from the AFC South, where the first-place Titans have hit a significant slump.
Sunday's game will be only the second Cowboys game ever in Jacksonville during regular season play. We are now in November 2019 and for Southern Hemisphere folk, that's
spring. The Monarch Butterflies have been at it early and we are already
into to breeding season. Starting on the 6th of November they have been
turning into their beautiful selves and flying around our garden.

The wasps are out in force, decimating caterpillars or newly hatched
butterflies. They are aggressive, voracious and exotic in origin. A far
as these imports go, the only good ones are dead ones. It means we have
to have a nursery system otherwise none would survive. We also have to
be aware of praying mantis' and earwigs, which seem to be killing the
caterpillars.
We've had a rush of new entrants to the world of butterflies.
Unfortunately, we have had to stop collecting eggs for some respite. At
least we had had an impact on the population in our area. People in our
vicinity have been commenting on seeing Monarchs in their garden,
something missing in recent years.

Our last entry for the year. I appreciate the funny side of the blog has
been overshadowed by the butterfly situation. The jokes ares still
there, just click on a subject to the right. Anyway, this last blog
reveals the randy side of the Monarch butterfly.

The smoke from the bush fires in Australia has made its way across the
Tasman Sea to NZ. Here is an evening shot of the effect. The setting sun
is shrouded in haze and not very strong. That isn't cloud cover that
blocks the blue evening sky.
Wasps have been viciously attacking our Monarch Butterfly caterpillars
they have to be cared for in containers to protect them until they can
fly away. Even waiting on a bush - after hatching but before being ready
to fly away - was too precarious.

This little spider had a dead fly and was towing it around. I took these pictures of it before it tried to take it up a wall, presumably to a place where it could store it and eat it. It got six inches up the vertical surface before stopping. It was there for hours and couldn't seem to get any higher. I had to admire its attempt but maybe it bit off more than it could chew.
I found this unusual creature on our kitchen benchtop. We had been given some fruit from a friend who has a lifestyle property just out of town. We assume it came from there. What was peculiar was it was on its back all the time, sometimes struggling and other times motionless
